From the President

Dear Partners in Sport,
Dear Readers,

Guess what the last sentences of the 2023 Business Report preface were?

“…a feature year starting with the biggest EHF EURO event so far and ending in mid-December with the highlight weekend in Vienna!”

And we did it!

From an incredible Men’s EHF EURO in January to, altogether, four final club events, Younger Age Category EHF EUROs and EHF Championships on a high level be it indoor or beach handball. Additionally, plenty of conferences, seminars, conventions, summits, and webinars were constantly driving the handball sport forward on an organisational and technical level. Here, the work of the many EHF bodies is also not to be overlooked, as it was the close cooperation with the professionals that paved the way to progress.

Consequently, this successful year had to end with another memorable event, and so the mission was completed: a Women’s EHF EURO with new generations moving into the 2024 – 2028 Olympic cycle was enriched by the 16th Conference of Presidents and the 17th Extraordinary EHF Congress. And even more, the inauguration of the European Handball House continued with the EHF Excellence Awards Gala; all these events could not be better celebrated than at the EHF EURO final weekend.

Our achievements, which we take great pleasure in sharing with the European handball community, could not have been attained if it were not for the dedication, tenacity, and competence of our partners, stakeholders, experts, and the elected and nominated persons who continue to serve the sport of handball with an unrivalled passion.

In anticipation of the many activities in 2025, our member federations will have numerous opportunities to engage, whether on the court with clubs and national teams or off the court through our development programmes. We are prepared to facilitate these interactions and will continue to dedicate ourselves to advancing European handball. In this sense, I am looking forward to the year 2025, when the European Handball Federation will welcome its members at the 17th Ordinary EHF Congress in Andau, Austria.

Now, we present this documentation providing the opportunity to reflect upon a collection of our best moments in anticipation of the year to come; and, as always, we look forward to continuing the handball journey with you in January!

Yours sincerely,

Michael Wiederer
President
